Create Rooms

This article explains how you create rooms from ContentsPal’s mobile app.

🏠 How to Add Rooms to a Job (Mobile App)

Section titled “🏠 How to Add Rooms to a Job (Mobile App)”

You can add rooms to any job from the mobile app or the web portal. This helps your team collaborate efficiently by organizing captured items by room. When you add or edit rooms, everyone on the job can see them and contribute in real time.

  • You must have access to the job in the mobile app.

  • Ensure you have an internet connection to sync rooms with your team.

  • If you don’t have service on the job site, make sure you load the job on your device ahead of time!

📱 Steps to Add a Room from the Mobile App

Section titled “📱 Steps to Add a Room from the Mobile App”
  1. Open the job and go to the Capture screen.

  2. At the bottom-left corner, tap the room button. (Note: Until you pick a room it shows Select Room — by default, a room must be selected before you can capture.)

  3. Tap New Room ➕

  4. Enter a Room Name (e.g., Bedroom).

  5. (Optional) Add a Description or take Photos of the room.

  6. Tap Done, then Create ✅

  7. The new room is selected automatically, so anything you capture next goes into it. To switch rooms, tap the room selection button and choose a different room.

  1. Open the Job Report for your job. It opens on the Job tab.

  2. Tap the Rooms tile 🛠️

  3. Tap Add (or Add your first room if the job has no rooms yet).

  4. Enter the room name, description, and optionally capture room photos.

  5. Tap Create to finish.

  6. Your new room will be visible to all team members working on that job.

  1. Tap the pencil icon next to All Rooms (in the room selector on the Capture screen), or tap the Rooms tile in the Job Report.

  2. Select a room to:

    • Rename it

    • Add or update its description

    • Capture additional photos

If a room already has photos, a small 🖼️ icon will appear next to its name.

A room has no separate floor setting, so put the floor or area in the room name, like Upstairs Bathroom and Basement Bathroom. Items, reports and exports show the room name, so this is how you tell which bathroom an item came from.

If you type a name that another room on the job already has, a note under Room Name points it out. You can still create the room, but add the floor so the two don’t look the same in reports.

Renaming a room later is safe: its items stay in it and show the new name everywhere.

  • All added rooms are automatically visible to everyone assigned to the job.

  • Team members can jump in and out of rooms to capture items collaboratively.

  • You can edit or add rooms at any time during or after a packout.

  • 🔄 Room changes not syncing? Wait a few seconds for updates to propagate or reopen the job.
