Working Offline
Learn how to use the camera and manage your inventory while working offline.
Offline Camera Screen
Section titled “Offline Camera Screen”The camera works the same way offline as it does online. You can:
-
Take photos with flash, zoom, and focus
-
Scan QR codes to assign items to boxes/tags
-
Use multi-item mode and box mode
-
Set salvage category, cleaning category, and quantity
Offline Job Report
Section titled “Offline Job Report”Offline you stay on the same Job Report tab you use online. The job name, identifier and status are shown as last synced, with an Offline badge next to them, and anything that needs a live connection appears with a padlock instead of disappearing.
Job tab
-
Item, room, box, tag and salvage counts as of the last time you were online
-
Manage Rooms and Jobsite Photo stay available — new rooms and photos are queued and upload when you reconnect
-
Instant Estimate, Settings, Note & Form and Share Job Report are locked until you reconnect
Inventory tab
Items are grouped by room, with two kinds of rows:
-
Items waiting to upload - everything photographed while offline. Tap one to view and edit its details, add more photos, change its room, update salvage and cleaning categories, or adjust quantity.
-
Items already uploaded - the job’s existing items, read from this device’s own copy of the job. These are shown with a padlock: you can see them, but editing needs the live item, so it waits until you reconnect. Their photos may not appear offline.
A line at the top of the list says when the already-uploaded half of it was last brought up to date — “Inventory updated 2 hours ago”. Once that copy is more than a couple of days old the line turns into a warning, because an inventory that stale is worth refreshing before you rely on it. Items still waiting to upload are always current; the age applies only to the items that came from the server.
Rooms are collapsed by default so a job’s existing items don’t bury the ones you have just photographed. A room opens on its own when it is the room you are working in, or when it holds anything still waiting to upload; the number beside a closed room tells you how many are waiting there. Tap any room to open or close it.
You can search both kinds at once from the search box — searching opens every room that matched — and clear the job’s pending items with the sweep button (this only deletes items that have not uploaded yet — items queued under other jobs are kept).
For the already-uploaded items to be there, the job has to have been prepared for offline use while you still had a connection. See Preparing and Syncing.
Custody tab
The job’s labels as they were last synced, plus any label created offline that has not uploaded yet. The list can be searched and filtered, but it is read-only offline: creating, printing, scanning and moving labels to a location all need a connection, and vault locations are not available.
Note & Form tab
Locked offline — notes and form submissions are not stored on the device.
