This article explains how to edit the details of an inventoried item in ContentsPal.

🔍 Viewing and Editing Tagged Item Details

Section titled “🔍 Viewing and Editing Tagged Item Details”

Once an item has been tagged and uploaded, you can review and edit all the details the system captured — including images, AI-generated data, and condition notes.

The Item Details view displays all information associated with a specific item. You can edit images, adjust details like brand or condition, add comments, or update AI-generated values such as replacement type, pricing, and category codes.

  • An item must already be added to your inventory

  • Access to the Item Details screen in the app

🚀 Step-by-Step: Reviewing a Tagged Item

Section titled “🚀 Step-by-Step: Reviewing a Tagged Item”
  • Tap on any Item from your job report.

  • The item detail screen will open, showing a carousel of images at the top and three tabs: Identity, Logistics, and Value. (Textile items also show a Textile tab.)

  • Swipe through the carousel to view all photos.

  • Tap a photo to open it full screen, where you can tap the delete (trash) icon to remove it, or tap Add to capture new angles.

  • When an item has more than one photo, tap Reorder Images to change their order.

  • In the full-screen view, tap the edit (pencil) icon at the top to rotate, flip, crop, or mark up the image.

  • In edit mode, use the shape tools to add a rectangle, circle, arrow, or text to highlight specific areas (for example, damages or serial numbers).

  • Tap a shape to select it, then drag to move or resize it, adjust its Color and Stroke width, or remove it with the ✕.

  • Tap Apply to save your markup.

  • Rotate, flip, and crop are applied separately from markup — finish one and tap Apply before starting the other.

Your marks are saved with the photo rather than burned into it, so you can reopen the image at any time to adjust or remove them. They also stay visible on the item’s image carousel and on the item thumbnails in your inventory, so annotated photos are easy to spot at a glance.

On the Identity tab, below the images, you’ll see the key details automatically generated by AI, including:

  • Name

  • Brand

  • Model

  • Serial Number

  • UPC / GTIN

  • Description

  • Content Category

  • Condition

  • Age

  • Size

  • Color / Finish, Material, Style, and Specs

  • Quantity and Pack Size

All of these fields are editable — simply tap to modify.

  • On the Logistics tab, use the Comments field to leave notes about damages, wear, or other conditions.

  • Comments are saved with the item record for review in reports or by other team members.

  • On the Value tab, the system shows the Replacement it selected (with its price and vendor), the Estimated Value, and the Xactimate Code and Replacement Code it assigned.

  • You can change the replacement if needed, though it’s recommended to make major replacement edits from the Web Portal for consistency.

  • The Logistics tab includes the item’s Room, Label, Storage category, and Cleaning Category, along with Hashtags and a Flag Item option.

  • Tap to edit these fields if an item was placed in the wrong room or needs reclassification.

  • If the item is in a box, its storage and cleaning categories come from the box. Tap Take out of Box to set them for the item on its own.

If the item was added in Multimode, the system identifies multiple objects from a single image and lists them individually. All these will appear as individual line items within the same box or as non-salvageables. You can edit them like you would any other item added in “Single” mode as well.

  • Always review AI-generated fields for accuracy before finalizing the job

  • Annotate damage areas to speed up claim or cleaning decisions

  • Use the web portal for bulk editing or replacement verification

  • Keep item photos updated if their condition changes

If images don’t load: Check your connection or refresh the screen. If AI data is missing or incorrect: Tap the field and manually correct it. Remember to save: After editing an item, make sure to hit ‘save’ so your changes are saved to the item.
