📦 How to Add Boxed Items

Use the Box feature to group and upload multiple items together within a box. This is ideal when packing items in a box.

🧭 Summary

The Box Mode lets you capture one or more items inside a box, label the box, and automatically identify and catalog its contents using AI. You can take individual photos or switch to Multimode to add multiple items in one picture.

⚙️ Prerequisites

  • A job must be created before adding boxes

  • (Optional) Printed or QR labels for boxes

🚀 Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Create a Box

  • Tap Box to begin.

  • Select the Box Size or Box Type (for example, Medium).

  • You can now start adding items to the box just like when tagging individual items.

2. Add Items to the Box

  • Take a picture of each item you’re adding.

  • You’ll see a counter in the top corner of the screen showing how many photos have been added.

  • Repeat this for each item you want to include.

3. Use Multimode for Faster Tagging

  • Tap the Single / Multi toggle at the bottom of the screen to switch to Multimode.

  • In Multimode, you can take one photo containing several items.

  • The AI automatically identifies each object and adds them as individual line items within that box.

💡 (Tip: Multimode is especially helpful when boxing many small items or when working in Non-Salvageable Mode.)

4. Set Box Status

You can assign a purpose or condition to the box, such as:

  • For Cleaning - If the boxed items will be cleaned

  • For Storage - If the box will be placed in storage

  • Left On-Site - If the box will be left on site

  • Third Party - If the box will be given to a third party vendor for restoration

5. Add a Label

  • Tap Label to scan or assign a label to the box.

  • You can scan a printed QR label, or tap Select / Create Label to search the job's existing labels, create one from what you type, or tap Make New for an automatic label name.

6. Close and Confirm

  • Once all items have been added, tap Close to finish.

  • A confirmation message will display, showing all boxes you’ve added and the items contained in each one.

  • Tick Print label after closing in the confirmation if you'd like the label print dialog to open as soon as the box is closed. Your choice is remembered for next time.

⚙️ Behind the Scenes

After closing the box:

  • The app uploads all box and item data.

  • AI begins identifying the items, assigning descriptions, and retrieving LKQ pricing.

  • You can continue adding other boxes while this processing happens in the background.

  • As you add boxes, the estimate updates with the best code to represent that box, be it for cleaning, storage, etc.

💡 (Tip: You can track processing progress from the Job Report screen.)

✅ Best Practices

  • Use Multimode when adding multiple small items to save time, but don't over do it documenting expensive items or items with pre-existing damage is key!

  • Label each box immediately after adding it

  • Capture items clearly and evenly lit for best AI recognition

  • Keep box size selection consistent for easy sorting later

🧩 Troubleshooting

If box photos aren’t uploading: Check your internet connection and retry.

If items aren’t identified correctly: Retake the photo ensuring all items are visible and not overlapping.

If a label doesn’t scan: Clean the QR code and ensure proper lighting before rescanning.
